Shift & Schedule
- Day Shift: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (5 days, 8-hour shifts)
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in Ambulatory or General OR settings
- Proficiency with Epic charting system preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated expertise in surgical procedures including but not limited to:
- Podiatry: Ankle fusion, bunionectomy, hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, metatarsal surgery
- Orthopedic: ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, closed and open fracture reductions
- Gynecology: Anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy), dilation & curettage, laparoscopic assisted procedures
- General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic assisted surgeries, mastectomy
- Plastics: Breast augmentation, mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
- Ophthalmology: Cataract extraction and implant procedures (required)
- Urology: Circumcision, cystoscopy, laparoscopic cases, transurethral resection of the prostate
- Ear/Nose/Throat: Endoscopic sinus procedures, mastoidectomy/tympanoplasty/stapedectomy, septoplasty/rhinoplasty, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
- Pediatric ENT: Myringotomy with tubes, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
- Experience handling surgical equipment and instrumentation such as electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
- Strong understanding of professional knowledge and skills including infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling and labeling, universal protocol (time out) procedure, urinary bladder catheterization, and wound management
- No travel experience required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures in the ambulatory and general ORs
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care and safety
- Prepare and maintain the operating room environment and surgical instruments, ensuring compliance with infection control standards and universal protocols
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using preferred Epic charting system
- Maintain expert knowledge and application of surgical procedures and specialty care techniques across multiple disciplines including orthopedics, gynecology, general surgery, plastics, ophthalmology, urology, and ENT
- Provide patient education and emotional support throughout the surgical experience
- Participate actively in safety checks, time-outs, and post-operative care processes
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements, clinical policies, and best practice guidelines
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse licensure in the state of California
- Minimum one year of relevant surgical nursing experience in outpatient or hospital settings
- BLS certification is mandatory
- Familiarity and proficiency in Epic electronic medical records are highly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills, surgical technology knowledge, and commitment to patient-centered care
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking abilities
Compensation & Additional Information
- Competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $53.00 to $63.00, commensurate with experience
